Are you a teacher? If so, how would you like  your students to control the iconic 64m Parkes radio telescope?

PULSE@Parkes is a free program that gives high school students the opportunity to use the Dish in real time via the internet to observe pulsars, rapidly spinning superdense remnants of massive stars.

We have six new observing slots for school groups. These are for October 2013 – March 2014. If you are interested please visit the project page for more details then apply online.  Applications close soon so don’t miss out.

Even if you don’t apply for an observing session you can analyse the data from previous sessions to determine the distance the pulsars with our free online module. You can also follow along with our observing sessions via twitter: @PULSEatParkes. Our next session is this Friday, 1.00pm – 3.00pm AEDT with students from four schools in Geraldton, Western Australia.
