We’re out and about at Mardi Gras this year, proudly marching for LGBTI+ inclusivity in STEM

It’s that rainbow time of the year again! In celebration of our second appearance at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, we created a playlist full of certified gay bops for you to boogie to.

It’s a little bit of everything fabulous. We’ve included the tunes we’ll be dancing to in the parade – Florence, Jamiroquai and Savage Garden! Plus a host of amazing tracks by inspiring LGBTI+ artists, heroes and allies.

These glittering tunes will get your heart racing and the pride party started.

Our Mardi Gras theme this year, Biodiversity: The Rainbow Revolution, celebrates the biodiversity of plant and animal life and its importance for our living world.

And through Mardi Gras, we are celebrating the diversity of our rainbow communities.

As the national science agency, we need to ensure diversity in both our people and our thinking. It is only through an inclusive and diverse culture that we can imagine, invent and innovate solutions to Australia’s greatest challenges.

More than 50 of our people will be proudly marching and dancing in choreographed unison down Sydney’s infamous Oxford Street on 29 February 2020. Make sure you watch us live on SBS or afterwards via streaming.

In the meantime, turn the volume up and throw on some (biodegradable) glitter! Let’s get loud and proud!

  1. Excellent input Sonia Bennett. Because this is all about you.

  2. I don’t like that music. I don’t listen to that style of music. I’ve been a professional singer and musician for 50 years so very choosey about what I listen to. Jazz is my favourite music along with bossa nova and the somplicated music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and the latin/jazz music of the Brazilians.
