Cassini's 20 year voyage is coming to a scheduled end on Saturn this September and we want you to come along and join us to celebrate!

A 20 year odyssey comes to an end this September.

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft is in the closing stages of a nearly 20-year odyssey at Saturn. The mission will come to a spectacular end on Friday 15th September 2017, as the spacecraft completes its final orbit and plummets into the atmosphere of the giant ringed-planet – ending the mission.

The massive antenna dishes of the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex will be providing the final radio contact with Cassini as it ends this epic voyage of exploration and we are inviting a lucky few to join us and help spread the word around the world as witnesses to this moment in space exploration history.

Carl Sagan once said ‘Not explaining science seems to me perverse. When you’re in love, you want to tell the world.’ And we couldn’t agree more. That’s why we want you to tell the world with us.

You are invited to apply to be one of just 30 selected participants to join us at the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex on the evening of Friday, 15th September 2017 and be here with us in the final hours of Cassini’s amazing mission.

We are going to put you to work however, to share this moment as widely as possible through social media. You may even get to appear on NASA TV!

We are looking for people who are active social media users; Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, bloggers/vloggers, etc. to share with their followers and the broadest audience possible their thoughts, experiences and interactions during Cassini’s final hours.

Writers, vloggers, photographers, educators, students, artists and other curious minds who use social media to engage specific audiences are encouraged to apply. All details will be kept confidential and not used or distributed for any additional marketing purposes. All correspondence will only be in relation to this event. All details supplied/submitted must be correct at time of submission and verifiable.

All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Those chosen must prove through the registration process they meet the specific engagement criteria.

Visit the application page to enter, and good luck!
