The new Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator will be available for research in Australia’s regional seas and oceans in 2015-2016. Under direction of an independent Steering Committee, the vessel is owned and operated by CSIRO. RV Investigator has been designed to undertake research in:

  • oceanography and climatology
  • fisheries, marine ecosystems
  • marine environmental research
  • marine geosciences

The vessel will be particularly suited to multi-disciplinary research projects.

Call for Applications for the Financial Year 2015 2016 > Australian marine researchers are invited to submit an application for use of RV Investigator during the period July 2015 to June 2016. The MNF Steering Committee encourages new applicants, applications with national and international collaborative projects and multi-year projects up to three years.

Area of Operations 2015 2016 > The MNF Steering Committee has not specified an Area of Operations in 2015 2016. Applications will be accepted for work in all Australian regional seas and oceans, from the tropics to the Antarctic ice edge.

Opening Date for Applications > The 2015-16 call for applications opens on Monday, 12 August 2013.

Closing Date for Applications > A brief Pre-proposal must be submitted by Tuesday, 3 September 2013 and full Applications for sea time submitted by Wednesday, 25 September 2013.
